Tulsa Police are working to piece together what led to a shooting near downtown that left at least four people hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Officers say the shooting happened around 1 a.m. during what they believe was a parking lot party near Riverside Drive and Lawton Avenue, an area known as Cry Baby Hill.

Officers say as many as 100 people were gathered

According to investigators, the gathering may have involved anywhere from 50 to 100 people. Tulsa Police Captain Jeff Edwards said officers had broken up a large party earlier in the night and believe the same group may have moved to a new location.

“There was a larger party earlier in the evening that was broken up by officers and we think that party may have stayed together and traveled around and ended up here in this parking lot,” said Edwards.

Multiple victims taken to two hospitals

Police say nearby residents reported hearing gunfire just after 1 a.m. on Thursday and called 911. Officers responded and found multiple people wounded.

At least four victims were taken to area hospitals, some to OSU Medical Center nearby, while others were diverted to a second hospital. One victim is in critical condition, according to officers.

We are naming OSU Medical Center in this case due to the heavy police presence outside the facility overnight, which prompted public concern and questions into our newsroom about what was happening.

Police still looking for suspects

As of Thursday morning, police had not identified any suspects and said they don’t know how many shooters may have been involved.

Officers are speaking with witnesses and family members at the hospital in an effort to gather more information.

Call for tips from the public

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage from the scene to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.

Police also said several nearby vehicles were damaged by gunfire, but no bystanders outside of the gathering were injured.
