Tulsa International Airport is opening its doors to local artists. The airport is offering two prime exhibit spaces inside the terminal for creative works that highlight Tulsa’s culture, identity and talent.
The selected displays will be visible to thousands of travelers for an entire year, offering local artists both exposure and a unique platform. Here's what you need to know about the opportunity and how to apply.
Two New Art Spaces Available Inside TIA
Tulsa International Airport has designated two areas inside the terminal for rotating art installations. The exhibit will be located pre-security, in the walkways connecting Concourse A Baggage Claim, Schwab Hall, and Concourse B Baggage Claim.
The airport wants to use these spaces to spotlight the city’s creative community and give travelers a taste of Tulsa’s cultural flair.
The Theme: All About Tulsa
Airport officials are asking that the submitted artwork have a clear connection to Tulsa. That could mean pieces inspired by the city’s landmarks, art deco architecture, Native roots, or reflecting themes tied to the region.
Submission Deadline Is June 13
Interested artists must submit their proposals online by Friday, June 13. Applications should include details about the artwork, how it reflects Tulsa, and the artist’s background.
Exhibit Begins August 1 and Runs for One Year
The selected works will go on display beginning Thursday, Aug. 1, and remain up for 12 months.
How to Apply
Submissions are being accepted through the Tulsa International Airport’s official website. There is no cost to apply, and artists of all experience levels are welcome.
