High schools across Green Country are changing their graduation plans due to the threat of severe weather.
Union Public Schools moved its graduation inside on Sunday and split it into two ceremonies.
More than 1100 seniors at Union High School are now high school graduates.
"My father and siblings flew into town out of California,” said Warren Anderson, who watched his son Jaden Anderson graduate. “My dad got to tie my son's tie the same way he got to tie mine when I graduated. I think it was just a beautiful experience, very emotional for us."
"Everyone did an awesome job, the atmosphere was pleasant, it was nice,” said Sharon Brasfield, who was there to support her grandson, Amon Herring, and niece, Queen Booker. “Everyone was cheering for their graduate. It was really a nice, nice graduation."
The ceremony looked a little different this year because of Sunday’s severe weather threat.
It was moved inside and split into two graduations based on the graduates’ last name.
"To me, it made things go a little quicker,” said Brasfield. “It made the whole experience more enjoyable and you didn't have to sit for hours and hours. Having it done this way was really nice."
"It was easy,” said Anderson. “The traffic wasn't as backed up as we thought it would be. Lot of parking. It was good. I appreciated having it inside. Because if the weather had been hot like everybody wanted, it would be outside, sweating."
The storms weren’t going to get in the way of loved ones celebrating this great accomplishment.
"Keep your children in school,” said Brasfield. “Education is the number one. Above anything else. Education is number one. You will be proud, along with them, as they walk across that stage because you did your job."
"Save the moment,” said Anderson. “If your child is graduating, save the moment. Enjoy them while they're young."
