The Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG) is hosting three public open houses to share proposed updates to its GO! Plan and gather feedback from residents in Jenks, Bixby and Owasso.

The plan aims to make it safer and easier for people to walk or bike in their communities. Organizers say public input is key to helping shape the next phase of regional improvements.

What the GO! Plan Covers

The GO! Plan is INCOG’s regional blueprint for improving pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure across the Tulsa metro. It identifies gaps in the existing trail and sidewalk systems and lays out ways to improve safety, comfort and connectivity.

The plan also focuses on ensuring residents can access destinations like schools, parks and shopping areas using active modes of transportation such as biking or walking.

Meeting Schedule and Locations

INCOG will host three open houses for residents to review preliminary updates and provide feedback:

  1. Jenks: Monday, May 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Jenks City Hall
  2. Bixby: Wednesday, May 21 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Bixby Municipal Building
  3. Owasso: Thursday, May 22 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Owasso City Hall

Why Community Input Matters

The agency says hearing directly from residents helps tailor the GO! Plan to real-world conditions.

“INCOG is seeking public input on preliminary concepts and updates for the GO! Plan for Jenks, Glenpool, Bixby and Owasso,” said Thomas Dow, INCOG’s director of transportation. “Residents can help shape the future of our bicycle and pedestrian system by sharing their experiences at these open houses.”

What Happens Next?

After the open houses, INCOG will use public feedback to update the GO! Plan before moving into implementation. The agency hopes the changes will lead to a more connected and safer environment for non-drivers across the Tulsa region.

More information is available at INCOG’s official site.
