Dozens of Tulsa motorcyclists hit the streets in their Sunday best for a global mission.
More than 50 riders suited up in pressed suits, bow ties and berets on Sunday - not just for style but for men’s health. It's not the typical motorcycle gear, but Paul Reid says that's exactly the point.
“We hope the people will see us and wonder why and look it up and recognize that we’re doing this for men’s health and prostate cancer research’”
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a worldwide motorcycle event with a mission to raise money for men's health and prostate cancer research. Tulsa is one of thousands of cities taking part by riding through the town. The group raised over $5,000.
For Justin Barrett, the mission hits closer to home. He lost his older brother, Scott, to cancer 2 years ago.
“We all rode together a lot with my father, so it was always a big group ride, and then when he passed away, it left a big hole,” he said.
Both Barrett and Reid say getting people to seek help, whether medically or mentally, starts with breaking the silence. Because awareness doesn't end at the finish line.
