A Tulsa-based nonprofit, Experience Tulsa, is using social media to showcase the city’s unique charm and encourage residents to engage more with their community.
The organization hosts low-cost or free events to connect both longtime residents and newcomers, helping them rediscover the city’s offerings.
The group produces a popular video series featuring interviews with well-known Oklahomans and Tulsans, including Kristin Chenoweth and the All-American Rejects.
The videos spotlight people and places that embody Tulsa’s spirit, often highlighting hidden gems and small businesses around the area.
The series has gained significant traction on social media, generating over 10 million views across Instagram and TikTok.
Since launching the Best of Tulsa series in February 2024, the Experience Tulsa channel’s followers have grown from under 500 to more than 50,000, drawing attention to Tulsa’s culture and local businesses.
The nonprofit’s leaders emphasize the importance of fostering pride and connection within the community by sharing authentic stories from Tulsans in their own words.
Experience Tulsa encourages people to subscribe for free to gain access to monthly events like social hours, dance nights, and film screenings.
