As we continue to dig through the News On 6 sports archives, we're continuing to take a look back at some of the big sporting events around Tulsa and Oklahoma.
Today's "From The Vault" takes us back to 2016 when Powershare Series Tennis made a stop at the BOK Center for the Tulsa Championships. This was one of just 12 tournament stops for the series that year. Tennis legends Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, Jim Courier and Mark Philippoussis squared off in one set of semifinals, with the winners meeting in a championship match.
Then-57-year-old John McEnroe was the star of the night, receiving a standing ovation as he came on the court. He also gave fans laughs during his match against Jim Courier, even tossing his shirt into the stands after losing to Courier.
In the other semifinal, Mark Philippoussis beat Andy Roddick, before beating Courier 6-3 in the championship match to win the Tulsa Championships.
