The Tulsa Zoo’s newest elephants, Billy and Tina, are settling into their new home and exploring more of their surroundings after completing their quarantine period.

First steps into the main yard

Billy and Tina, who arrived from the Los Angeles Zoo, had their first opportunity this week to explore the main elephant yard at the zoo’s preserve barn. It's a big milestone as they continue to adjust to their new habitat.

Guests may now be able to catch a glimpse of the pair from the elephant viewing deck, which overlooks the barn’s main yard and herd room.

However, zoo staff note that Billy, Tina, and the rest of the elephant herd may rotate through various areas throughout the habitat based on daily schedules and care routines.

More updates to come

The zoo says it will continue sharing updates as Billy and Tina explore different spaces and grow more comfortable in their new environment.
