A warehouse party packed with juveniles turned chaotic early Saturday morning after multiple people opened fire, prompting Tulsa Police to issue a strong warning to parents.
The incident happened near 122nd East Avenue and Admiral around 12:45 a.m. Officers say the building, located in an industrial area, was being used as a party venue when things got out of control.
When officers arrived at the scene, they immediately heard gunfire. Police estimate hundreds of juveniles were at the warehouse at the time. Several people were injured and taken to the hospital, though all known injuries are non-life threatening, according to authorities.
Tulsa Police say these types of large, unsupervised parties are becoming increasingly dangerous and often involve weapons and drugs.
“From police department to parents — we know you’re doing a good job, but please keep your kids at home, away from these parties. We just want your kids to be safe,” said Sgt. JB Shelton with Tulsa Police.
Officers say they blocked off a large area during their response and are continuing to investigate the shooting.
While police confirm that multiple shooters were involved, they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. Authorities are still working to determine how many people were injured in the shooting.
Tulsa Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
