It is officially berry season in Oklahoma! Several you-pick farms have opened across the state, including Thunderbird Berry Farm in Broken Arrow. This is the farm's 20th season in business. It has been owned and operated by the same family since 2005 when Donald Hansen Sr. planted the first rows.
Hansen has since passed away, but his legacy lives on in the five generations of family members that keep the business running. "One thing my grandpa always valued was family," said Molly Swanson. "We have come together as a family to keep this. We miss him terribly, it has been a hard loss, but we feel him every time we are out here at the farm and we know so many of you remember him and you feel him here too."
Thunderbird Berry Farm spans nearly 15 acres and grows blueberries and blackberries. The you-pick experience is open to the public until all the berries are gone.
How It Works
Step 1: Pick your bucket size
Step 2: Head to the fields to pick berries
Step 3: Weigh your berries
Step 4: Pay for your berries (cost is $5 per pound)
Step 5: Take your fresh berries home
Hours & Location:
Thunderbird Berry Farm is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. It is at 7515 S 321st E Ave. in Broken Arrow.
