Founded in 2021, the Tulsa Peoples' Orchestra is a nonprofit ensemble dedicated to bringing free, live orchestral music to public spaces throughout Tulsa and northeastern Oklahoma.
With a roster of more than 75 volunteer musicians, the organization eliminates traditional ticket barriers to make classical music accessible, exciting, and inclusive.
Guided by the motto "Music For All," the group performs at parks, festivals, schools, senior centers and smaller towns, aiming to unite communities through music. The orchestra also fosters personal growth by offering a welcoming space for musicians to improve their skills, build leadership and form lasting friendships.
The Tulsa Peoples' Orchestra will present its next public performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at WOMPA, located in Tulsa’s Pearl District.
Titled "…this place beautiful: human experience," the event is designed as a multidisciplinary experience that combines poetry, visual art, music and dance.
The goal is to inspire audiences to reflect on and contribute to making Tulsa a more beautiful place.
Beyond performances, the orchestra plays an active role in community development. The group regularly performs in underserved areas and seeks out audiences that might not otherwise experience live orchestral music.
By activating public and often-overlooked spaces, the orchestra serves as a cultural catalyst for connection and creativity.
The organization also prioritizes collaboration and innovation in its programming, frequently working with other local artists and arts groups to create inclusive and meaningful experiences.
Tulsa Peoples' Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by the community. To learn more, donate or get involved, visit TulsaPeoplesOrchestra.org.
