A free summit in Broken Arrow is bringing the community together to take a stand against human trafficking. The Human Trafficking Initiative Summit will offer discussions, insight, and resources to help combat the ongoing crisis locally and globally.
Earlier this year, the Broken Arrow City Council approved a resolution aimed at raising awareness about human trafficking and supporting initiatives to fight it. This summit is part of that effort.
What to Expect at the Summit
The Human Trafficking Initiative Summit is scheduled for Friday, May 24, at the Northeastern State University campus in Broken Arrow. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon and is free to attend.
Speakers and panel discussions will focus on prevention, victim support, and how community members can help.
City of Broken Arrow Takes Action
In March, the Broken Arrow City Council unanimously passed a resolution declaring its commitment to fighting human trafficking. The resolution was part of a broader push to educate residents, strengthen partnerships with advocacy groups, and promote legislative action.
Summit Goals and Community Engagement
Organizers say the summit will bring together local leaders, law enforcement, educators, and advocates to share strategies and raise public awareness. The goal is not just education—but action.
Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee is a featured speaker at the event.
The community is encouraged to attend, learn the signs of trafficking, and discover how to get involved in prevention and recovery efforts.
