The Sand Springs community is mourning the passing of former Deputy Chief Carl Wortham, who died following a long battle with cancer.
Chief Wortham was widely respected for his decades of service in Oklahoma law enforcement. In addition to his role with the Sand Springs Police Department, he also served with the Tulsa Police Department and later worked with the Tulsa Community College Police Department at the West Campus, where he helped train the next generation of officers.
Photos shared by News On 6 assignment editor Tim O’Keefe show Wortham in 2017, when he served as a mentor and instructor at TCC. O’Keefe noted that Wortham played a key role in his own training and development.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
Chief Wortham is remembered not only for his leadership and service, but also for his deep commitment to his family and community. He is survived by his wife and children.
