The Sand Springs community is mourning the passing of former Deputy Chief Carl Wortham, who died following a long battle with cancer.

Chief Wortham was widely respected for his decades of service in Oklahoma law enforcement. In addition to his role with the Sand Springs Police Department, he also served with the Tulsa Police Department and later worked with the Tulsa Community College Police Department at the West Campus, where he helped train the next generation of officers.
