Broken Arrow Fire responds to gas leak, nearby homes asked to evacuate

BAFD has closed down Washington St. due to a "large gas leak" on Thursday.

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -

The Broken Arrow Fire Department said a "large gas leak" has shut down Washington Street and nearby residents have been asked to evacuate their homes on Thursday.

BAFD shared online that Washington Street is closed between 5th and 9th Street (91st Street between 173rd East Ave. and 177th East Ave.) Eastbound traffic is closed at 5th Street, while westbound traffic is closed at 9th Street.

"Homes on the south side, adjacent to Washington St., beginning at 7th St. are being asked to evacuate at this time," BAFD shared.

It's not clear what caused the leak at this time. This is a developing story; stay tuned for updates.
