Chiefs to face Cowboys in Thanksgiving Day showdown at AT&T Stadium

Thanksgiving Day football is getting a star-powered matchup in 2025.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to AT&T Stadium to take on Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 p.m. ET, CBS announced Wednesday morning. The Week 13 game will also stream on Paramount+.

It’s a long-anticipated return home for Mahomes, who grew up in Tyler, Texas, just 80 miles east of Dallas. Despite his standout NFL career, the two-time MVP has never played a pro game in Arlington.

Mahomes and the Chiefs last faced the Cowboys in 2021, pulling off a 19-9 win in Kansas City. Neither quarterback threw a touchdown in that game, but Prescott holds an earlier win over the Chiefs from 2017, when Mahomes was a rookie on the sideline.

Holiday matchup brings playoff pedigree

Both teams are heading into the 2025 season with postseason expectations and demanding schedules.

Dallas is set to face 10 teams that made the 2024 playoffs — including all of the top seven scoring defenses from last season.

Kansas City will also face 10 playoff teams from last year, including all three of their postseason opponents — Houston, Buffalo and Philadelphia — during their 2024 Super Bowl run.

The Chiefs are also scheduled to host the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day in Week 17, marking another marquee holiday appearance.

Thanksgiving tradition continues for both teams

The Thanksgiving Day game will be the first for the Chiefs since 2006, when the NFL expanded its holiday slate to three games. Kansas City holds a 5-5 all-time record on Thanksgiving.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, are Thanksgiving Day regulars. The franchise has hosted a game on the holiday every year since 1966 and holds a 34-22-1 all-time record.
