Sunday is the closing day of Mayfest - one of Tulsa’s most loved traditions. Downtown Tulsa is seeing large crowds as people come out for one last look.

Born to Create

Some people are brought into this world to create, like Dallas-based artist George Jones.

“I tell people I was born with several palette knives and several tubes of paint,” he said.

Jones has used palette knives to bring bears, bison and other animals to life for the past 50 years. Curt Baldwin offers something more minimal, simple scenes of boats in open water.

This weekend, artists like Jones and Baldwin get to share their talents with thousands at Mayfest.

Fostering Connections

Being an artist is a different pace from the typical 9-5, where every conversation is a chance to connect.

“I’m having so much more fun now, go to beautiful places, meet lots of nice people, sell lots of art…it’s a good life,” said Jones.

And while Mayfest wraps up, the connections made here will last long after the tents come down.
