A family is remembering a Tulsa woman after she was killed in a motorcycle crash on Easter Sunday.
Tulsa Police say Megan Forbes was riding her motorcycle near Harvard and Pine when she was hit by an SUV.
A HELPING HAND
Loved ones of Megan Forbes say she was always the first to help someone out if they were struggling.
"It seemed like Megan met people when they were at their lowest, and she got them back up,” said Craig Forbes, the father of Megan Forbes. “She had that gift to help people move forward when life wasn't being fair to them."
THE CRASH
Tulsa Police say Forbes was riding her motorcycle when she was killed by an SUV at the intersection of East Latimer Street and Harvard.
The driver and passenger in the SUV weren’t injured.
"People need to just slow down when they get behind their wheel or they get behind their handlebars,” said Forbes. “They are taking a lot of responsibility into their hands.”
ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY
Craig Forbes says Megan Forbes was a veteran, loved riding motorcycles, and was active in the skydiving community.
"It was that level,” said Forbes. ”Megan had a connection with a child, a connection with a dog, a connection with a motorcycle, a connection at the coffee house with the VA, she touched this community in more different ways that I don't believe anyone could ever do."
Craig Forbes says it’s meant a lot to see how many lives Megan Forbes touched.
A family member shared this message with him.
"The true personification of a firecracker,” said Forbes. “She could teach us all the lessons on living and loving more fully. I'll miss her, I'm really sorry."
HELPING OTHERS
Forbes says she was always a safe motorcycle rider and hopes her story will show others how important it is to do the same.
"Take a moment, get your clarity,” said Forbes. “Understand that you are behind something that can take somebody's life. And it can happen that quickly. People nowadays don't think that it's going to happen to them.”
MISSING MEGAN
If he could tell Megan Forbes anything, he would say how proud he is of her.
"I miss her, I'm proud of her, she accomplished so much,” said Forbes. ”She bought her home, she had her dogs, she had her degree. She accomplished so much, she accomplished goals, she was just living life to the fullest."
WHAT’S NEXT
Tulsa Police say they are waiting for the driver’s toxicology report to come back before they finish the investigation.
Tulsa Police will turn their findings over to the District Attorney, who will decide what charges will be filed.
Megan's friends also said that her memorial helmet was stolen, and they are asking whoever took it to come forward and return it.
