A federal judge sentenced a 57-year-old Grove woman to 15 years in federal prison for killing her neighbor while under the influence of methamphetamine.

Investigators say Kellie Crawford was drinking with 70-year-old Richard Strade in September 2021.

They say Crawford thought Strade was trying to sexually assault her, so she hit him in the head with a cookie jar lid and plastic hanger several times, then strangled him to death.

Crawford pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

She’ll also serve three years of probation after she’s released.
