An adjunct coach at Tulsa Public Schools was booked into Tulsa County Jail on Monday
According to a probable cause affidavit, a fight broke out between some students during a track meet at Booker T Washington. School staff and coaches worked to break up the fight, at which point a coach, identified as Gui Lowmack, struck a student with his right hand.
The affidavit says the suspect turned himself over to Tulsa Public Schools police, and was then taken to the jail to the booked.
He was booked on complaints of assault and battery of a minor and aggravated assault and battery. Lowmack has not been charged in this incident at this time.
Tulsa Public Schools released the following statement on the incident:
"We hold any individual working with or supporting Tulsa students and families to the highest of standards and expect adults to serve as exemplary role models for our young people. The individual in question was not a full-time employee of Tulsa Public Schools, but had been working as an adjunct coach this season up through Thursday, April 17, 2025.
While we are not able to share details in matters covered by employee protections or under active investigation, we are cooperating with authethorities’ investigation of the incident. We will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our young people and team members in all of our actions and decisions as a school district."
