Tulsa Oilers Football kicked off its 2025 season with three games on the road. Now, the team is back in Tulsa and hoping for a big crowd at its home opener.
Tulsa Oilers vs. San Antonio Gunslingers
The first home game is a rematch of the Oilers' first opponent this season, the San Antonio Gunslingers. The Oilers came out of Texas with a 28-20 win.
"I feel like we are really a talented team," said wide receiver Josh Crockett. "We just got to put it all together on the field as one, and we will dominate as we should."
The game starts at 7:05 on Saturday, April 19, at the BOK Center. The first 1,000 fans get a free Tulsa Oilers hat.
Players to Watch
There are several players on the Tulsa Oilers roster to watch, two of whom grew up not far from the stadium. Linebacker Tre Harvey is from Catoosa, and Crockett is from Bristow.
"Them getting to see me continue on about my passion, and what I love to do, there is no better feeling," said Crockett.
Harvey said he loves looking out into the crowd and seeing so many familiar faces. "It is a lot of pride for me to make sure that we come out here and put out a good product," he said, "Also, it is just a really cool feeling just to be able to play in front of people that love and support you."
The game on Saturday will be Crockett's first of the season. "I have been chomping at the bit to get back on the field after tearing my plantar fascia last year and having a season-ending injury, so I am excited," he said.
Team Goals This Season
Tulsa Oilers Football was founded in 2023. In its three years, the team has racked up several wins, but there is one thing the franchise has yet to accomplish.
"We have not made the playoffs yet as a franchise," said Harvey. "We were one game away last year, and so we want to get that #1 seed and host the first round of playoffs at the BOK Center."
He said that starts off with the turf preparing physically, mentally, and spiritually for every game.
Indoor Football Game Experience
Harvey describes home games as 'football in a basketball environment' because the fans get to be so close to the action. "It is high energy, it is fast-paced, and it is high scoring," he added. "People like to see touchdowns, and so that is what we do here."
Before Crockett's injury, he was a crowd favorite, and plans to be again this season. "I am one of those guys the crowd loves because I bring energy, I am flipping off the wall, I spike the ball, I throw the ball in the stands, I love the crowd," he said.
