Tulsa man pleads guilty in murders of 3 women

A Tulsa man pleaded guilty Monday to killing three women in 2022 and was sentenced to life plus 25 years in prison.

Terryl Brooks admitted to the murders of Tyra Whitaker, Elizabeth Dillard, and Rainbow Star Dancer during a court hearing where family members of the victims read impact statements.

Case Background

1. Whitaker was last seen in January 2022 with Brooks, who she had been dating. Her body was later found buried in a shallow grave.
2. Dillard was shot and killed on her front porch in March 2022, just days before Rainbow Star Dancer was found dead in her apartment. Shell casings from both scenes matched.
3. Brooks was arrested in April 2022 and charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

Since his arrest, Brooks has also faced additional charges in jail, including assaulting detention staff and violating phone-use rules.
