Masterwork Academy, a faith- and arts-based program of First Church Tulsa, provides tuition- and fee-free training for elementary students in visual art, music, dance, and theatre. The program also includes Bible study, physical fitness, and reading tutoring.
The academy partners with Anderson Elementary and serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade.
Some alumni in grades six through eight have participated in computer animation and graphic design workshops, with plans to expand into a full middle school program.
Founded in 2017, Masterwork Academy began with a two-week summer program. The academy was created after First Church Tulsa received the 8:10 Building at 8th and Cincinnati as a gift. Revenue from the building’s commercial leases directly supports Tulsa-focused ministry, including Masterwork Academy.
The program was designed to bridge gaps in public school arts education while enriching the academic and spiritual lives of students. Organizers emphasize the connection between creativity and faith, encouraging students to explore art as a means of wonder, reflection, and self-expression.
Masterwork Academy has served more than 300 students in its first eight years. Organizers say the arts create common ground, bringing people together while offering opportunities for personal growth and reflection.
The community can support the academy through donations, which help fund field trips, special events, and student uniforms. Contributions can be made through the First Church Tulsa website.
