CHANGE IN VENUE, CHANGE ON THE CALENDAR

After two years at OU’s Jimmie Austin Golf Course, the Compliance Solutions Championship is making a big move. The tournament will be held at The Patriot Golf Club in Owasso and will take place in the fall instead of the summer, as it did in 2023 and 2024. The competition dates are October 2nd through the 5th.

Organizers don’t mind going head-to-head with high school and college football in Oklahoma, mainly because of the placement in the Tour’s schedule. The Compliance Solutions Championship will be the last tournament before the Korn Ferry Tour championship finals, meaning the 120 players in the field will be making one last big push to try to climb into the top 20 on the Tour’s points list, which would earn them a PGA Tour card.

SOMETHING FOR THE FANS

Outside of holes 1, 9, 10, 11 and 18, The Patriot is a challenging walk. The elevation change is significant, but at Wednesday’s media day, tournament director Lucas Fox said stands will be set up behind the 9th green and the adjacent 1st tee and other areas to create an exciting atmosphere. Fans will also be free to walk the rest of the course to view the action.

There’s also a country music concert featuring Bixby native Corey Kent scheduled for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino that week.

And for the second straight year, fans can take advantage of one of 40,000 free scoops of ice cream from Braum’s.

LAMMERT DETERMINED TO MAKE IT “FUN”

Compliance Solutions founder and president Mark Lammert mentioned the word “fun” a lot during his media day remarks. He’s been the driving force behind making the tournament successful, and seems determined to make it work in Owasso. The St. Louis native attended Oral Roberts University and is a member of both The Patriot and Karsten in Stillwater, and is also vested in his alma mater’s athletic success. Lammert said golf legend Jack Nicklaus will once again be involved with the tournament in some fashion after making the trip to Norman last summer.
