A group of female firefighters from across northeast Oklahoma is raising money for two causes through their latest all-female firefighter calendar.

Oklahoma Women on Fire released its eighth annual calendar and hosted a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting children battling pediatric cancer and programs to help women pursue careers in the fire service.

“That’s why we do it,” said Kendall Taylor with Oklahoma Women on Fire. “We love, not just the camaraderie of the girls, but helping girls see that this could potentially be a dream for them.”

The group’s next initiative is a firefighter camp in Tahlequah in October for girls 16 and older. No prior fire service experience is required.
