Tulsa police arrest man wanted for human smuggling in Texas

A man wanted in Texas for human smuggling was arrested in Tulsa, accused of rape, assault, and kidnapping.

Police say Pedro Mejia was arrested after he asked a woman he has children with to stay with her.

They say that after drinking throughout the day, he assaulted her and strangled her before kidnapping her.

Police say this happened while the victim's 5-year-old child was at home.

They say a background check revealed he is wanted for 19 counts of human smuggling in Texas.
