Runners are gearing up for the 38th Annual Juke Joint Jog, hosted by Eskimo Joe’s, set for Saturday, Sept. 13.
The event will raise funds for the United Way of Payne County while giving participants a chance to enjoy a scenic course through the Oklahoma State University campus.
The Fun Run begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 10 a.m. Both events will start at the corner of Elm Street and Knoblock Street, just west of Eskimo Joe’s.
Runners can pick up their race packets Friday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Joe’s Clothes, or starting at 8 a.m. on race day.
All participants will get this year’s Eskimo Joe’s event shirt, unless registered in the no-shirt category for ages 12 and under.
Every 5K finisher will receive a medal, while Fun Run participants will get a ribbon.
Top finishers in each age group will earn custom medals, and the top five male and female runners overall will receive watches from Leonard Jewelry.
After crossing the finish line, participants can choose from hot dogs, cold beer, soda, bananas or water. Awards will be presented at 11 a.m.
Parking will be available in Eskimo Joe’s lots, on nearby streets and in campus lots. A virtual Fun Run and 5K are also available for those unable to attend in person, with packets mailed out the week of Oct. 14.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the United Way of Payne County, which partners with 24 local community agencies. Organizers say the event is not only about fitness and fun, but also about making a difference in the community.
Registration can be found here.
