The Tulsa National Softball team is back home following an impressive run at the Little League Softball World Series, where they secured third place after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over North Carolina in the Consolation Game on Sunday.
Finishing with a 3-2 record in the tournament, Tulsa National showed resilience and skill throughout their time in the competition.
Harmoneigh White was a standout once again, pitching six innings while allowing just two unearned runs, walking two, and striking out five to earn the win. She also contributed offensively with an RBI double that helped extend Tulsa’s early lead.
Tulsa National got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first inning. Palmer Miner opened the scoring with a clutch two-out double, driving in Milana Flamminio-Littlejohn and Tatum Frisby to give Tulsa a 2-0 lead. Shortly after, White added to the lead with an RBI double, bringing home Rylee Whited and putting Tulsa ahead 3-0.
North Carolina cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning and threatened to tie the game in the fifth. However, White’s composure helped her get out of a key inning-ending pop up in foul territory, and Tulsa’s defense held strong to close out the game with a three-up, three-down sixth inning.
Miner led the team offensively, finishing 1-for-2 with a two-run double.
Off the field, the players treasured the friendships and memories made during the tournament. Manager Jonathan Arias reflected on the experience, saying, “Meeting other teams from across the world, you know, they had a strong connection with Japan. So definitely a lot of memories were made.”
While the excitement of travel and competition was unforgettable, the players are happy to be home and back in their own beds.
