Tulsa's Tre Lamb wants better execution at practice; Likes depth in the running back room

It's that time in fall camp for college football programs to ramp up the competition. That was the case for Tulsa on Wednesday with head coach Tre Lamb putting the players through different live situations.

While Lamb applauds the effort of his guys during practice, other areas are lacking. After practice, Lamb said, "We’re lacking in execution right now. We're playing hard. We care. We look like a 6-6 team, which is never going to be the standard here."

Lamb added, "We have to clean some stuff up. We had a poor walkthrough yesterday afternoon. In our scrimmage today, I thought it was pretty sloppy on both sides. We didn't tackle well. On offense, there were way too many missed assignments and mistakes.

The head coach finished by saying, “Not good enough for my standard. Not good enough for our standard. 6 and 6 is not our goal around here and our goal is not to be average."

On a positive note, when Lamb was asked about the running back room, the head man had great things to say. Braylin Presley- A Bixby product, Dominic Richardson of Bishop McGinness, and Edison alum Sevion Morrison are set to be a three-headed monster for the Golden Hurricane.

Speaking about those three, Lamb said, "We have specific plays for Braylin to get him in space like jet sweeps. And then catching the ball, he is a dynamic pass catcher against linebackers. And then Sevion and Dominic Richardson can pound people. It is hard to defend both of those."

Lamb added, "If we can lean on people and get three or four yards in the first quarter, we feel like those can turn into seven and eight-yard runs in the third and fourth quarter. So, I love where we are at in the running back room. That has been a bright spot on offense for sure."
