Behind every picture frame, blanket, and knick-knack in Teresa Tiffey’s driveway is a daughter’s hope—to bring her mother home.
“We’re doing a benefit yard sale for my mom,” Teresa said.
Her mother, Rose Mazza, lives nearly 1,400 miles away in New Jersey.
Years ago, she beat breast cancer. But now, the disease has returned—and this time, it’s terminal.
“She just recently found out it came back and it’s in her bones,” Teresa said. “So she wants to be home with her family members the last remaining time that she has.”
Doctors say Rose may not have much time left, giving the 78 year old roughly two more years.
“She calls me and she’s bawling, and she’s like, ‘I miss you guys. I just want to hug you,’” she said.
But bringing Rose to Tulsa isn’t easy—or cheap. Teresa says just renting a U-Haul will cost about $1,800. So she did what she could: turned to faith—and her front yard.
“I was in my backyard thinking about what I can do to help,” she said. “And I just felt like God told me to try a benefit yard [sale].”
Friends, family, and church members donated nearly everything for the sale. Some strangers stopped by to buy. Others gave just to support her mission.
“People have come and bought stuff… and then they’ve even gave us a little extra just for donations for mom,” Teresa said. “They don’t know her, but yet they’re still willing to do what they can.”
Teresa says, though she’s getting rid of some stuff, she’s holding on to one thing: hope.
“I love you, Mom. And we’re doing everything we can to bring you back home.”
