The City of Broken Arrow is kicking off summer with its annual Block Party on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, at New Orleans Square.
The two-day celebration runs from 6 to 10:30 p.m. on June 27 and 28, bringing together live music, food trucks, and fireworks at the newly renovated intersection of New Orleans Street (101st Street) and Elm Place (161st Street).
City officials are reminding festivalgoers to leave pets at home, citing the hot pavement, loud fireworks and limited access to water. 'The noise and flashing lights can also trigger anxiety in pets,' according to the city.
In fact, Broken Arrow Ordinance 2067 prohibits dogs at public events with more than 1,000 people, unless they are service animals or used in law enforcement.
The intersection of New Orleans and Elm will be closed both nights from 4 to 11 p.m. to accommodate the event. Parking will be available throughout New Orleans Square, with designated disabled parking accessible from New Orleans Street in the northwest quadrant. For added convenience, rideshare pickup and drop-off will be available at Arrow Heights Baptist Church.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, strollers and wagons to settle in for the evening. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. each night, shot from the southeast corner of the square—visible from nearly every angle of the venue.
