Construction on Skiatook’s long-planned public safety facility is ramping up, with site preparation now underway and major building efforts expected to begin soon.

City officials say the new complex will provide critical infrastructure for the growing community, bringing fire and police operations under one roof.

Key approvals and prep work already completed

On May 14, the Skiatook City Council approved bids for the long-planned project. Crews installed erosion control barriers at the site on June 16, marking the beginning of visible progress toward construction.

The facility will include separate spaces for each department:

  1. Police Department: 10,117 square feet, including a secured sally port
  2. Fire Department: 10,849 square feet, including four apparatus bays

Officials say the centralized design will help improve coordination and emergency response times.

Completion expected by late next year

The city’s goal is to finish construction by August 2026, offering Skiatook a modern hub for public safety that replaces older infrastructure and supports future growth.
