Sunday marks 51 years since the deadly June 8, 1974, tornado outbreak. Twenty-two tornadoes tore through Oklahoma, killing 16 people and injuring nearly 300.
The most powerful tornado, an F4, was on the ground for 55 miles. It began near the Payne and Creek County line and devastated Drumright, where a nursing home was struck and about 100 homes were destroyed or damaged.
The Tulsa area was also hit hard, with tornadoes and flash flooding that caused millions of dollars in damage.
