Tessa Dorrell, representing Broken Arrow, was crowned Miss Oklahoma 2025 during the final night of competition at the Rose State Performing Arts Center on June 7. The Oklahoma State University graduate now moves on to represent the state at the Miss America competition.
Dorrell was one of 40 delegates from across the state who competed for the title. As the newly crowned Miss Oklahoma, she receives a $30,000 cash scholarship to support her continued education. She becomes the 91st woman to earn the title in the program’s history.
Dorrell holds a bachelor’s degree in sports media from OSU.
During the talent portion of the competition, Dorrell performed a spoken word monologue titled “Walking in My Shoes.” Her Community Service Initiative is “Partners Club: Empowering Special Education in Oklahoma.”
“Partners Club fosters empathy and understanding among all students,” Dorrell said. “By bridging the gap between students with and without disabilities, we can cultivate an environment of mutual respect and learning, leading to a deeper understanding of the value of diversity in education.”
Four other finalists joined Dorrell in the top five:
The Miss Oklahoma Organization offers more than $2 million in scholarships each year to contestants across the state. Contestants are evaluated in multiple categories, including interview, talent, health and fitness, and evening wear.
The Miss America Organization, which oversees the competition nationally, is one of the country’s largest providers of scholarship assistance for young women, supporting leadership, talent and communication development.
