Getting fresh produce from local farmers just got easier in Tulsa. The largest farmers market in Oklahoma, the Tulsa Farmers Market, has officially launched its new “To-Go” online ordering platform, giving residents another way to support local vendors and access healthy, seasonal food.
The program aims to break down barriers that have kept some people from shopping in person, such as time constraints or transportation issues. It’s part of a broader push to make fresh, locally grown food more available to all Tulsans.
The service lets customers browse local goods from more than 100 vendors online and either order a pre-packed variety bag of in-season produce or select individual items.
Orders are placed ahead of time and picked up on Wednesday evenings, extending market access beyond the traditional Wednesday and Saturday morning hours.
Tulsa Farmers Market staff handle distribution by receiving goods directly from the producers and organizing customer pickups.
“The farmers market is still a true farmers market even with Tulsa Farmers Market To-Go,” said Executive Director Kris Rosson. “We’re not stocking a store. You place an order, we tell the producer, they bring it to us, we hold it for you and get you the product.”
Rosson said they are adding more and more products from vendors each week as the seasons change.
Rosson said the platform was created to help align the schedules of busy Tulsans with the availability of local growers.
“There’s a gap between what a farmer’s life looks like and what the average Tulsan working in the city experiences,” Rosson said. “We’re really focused on bridging that gap to increase access and create more opportunity for our vendors.”
The team hopes the program will allow more residents, especially those who can’t attend markets in person, to experience the benefits of local food.
While pickup is the only option for now, Rosson said they are working on a delivery service to remove even more barriers.
“That flexibility could help more people bring fresh, local food into their homes,” Rosson said.
The To-Go platform is live and ready for orders. Shoppers can visit the Tulsa Farmers Market website to learn more about the program and place an order.
The weekly order window opens on Saturdays at 8 a.m. and closes at midnight.
Tuesday morning, pick-ups are at the Tulsa Farmers Market office in Kendall Whittier, a block from the market, on Wednesday evenings from 4 p.m. to 7 pm.
