Fairfax man drowns in Osage County

A 61-year-old Fairfax man drowned early Saturday morning after an incident near OK-18 and Remington Road in Osage County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the drowning occurred around 1:20 a.m. on May 31. Troopers say the victim, identified as Theodore Scott Smith, was walking down an embankment when, for unknown reasons, he ended up face-down in the water. Authorities say weather conditions were clear at the time, and Smith was not wearing a personal flotation device.

The incident remains under investigation.
