What began as a missing person case in Broken Arrow has now turned into a possible murder-suicide investigation, police said.
Broken Arrow Police served a search warrant at a home near West Roanoke Street around 4 p.m. Wednesday after out-of-state relatives reported 20-year-old Alyssa Shippy missing. Relatives told officers she had not been seen since November 2024.
Inside the home, officers found three bodies and a dog. Police said they discovered an adult man, Rodney Shippy, who appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, along with his 10-year-old son and a dog, both also deceased. Investigators later found a second adult body believed to be a woman, but they have not confirmed whether it is the missing woman.
Broken Arrow Police have confirmed that Rodney Shippy was the father of the missing woman, Alyssa Shippy, and that she did live in the home on West Roanoke at some point.
"Certainly, all this was brought about because relatives out of state had inquired about the 20-year-old, and so that jump-started this missing person case," Broken Arrow Police said.
On Thursday, Broken Arrow Police confirmed to News On 6 that Shippy is the granddaughter of Kenneth and Diane Carpenter, who were found dead at a BA home in 2023 from an apparent murder-suicide.

Police say it’s still unclear how long the bodies had been inside the home.
Authorities continue to interview neighbors and relatives to gather more information about what happened.

Broken Arrow police say they are on the scene of an apparent murder-suicide investigation Wednesday evening.
BAPD says officers responded to a home in the 100 Block of West Roanoke Street Wednesday afternoon to serve a warrant in connection to a missing person case involving 20-year-old Alyssa Shippy. Police say the Shippy's disappearance was recently reported by out-of-state relatives.
Officers say when they arrived, they found an adult male with apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds, as well as a juvenile male and a dog, all dead. Due to the condition of the home, investigators have since located an additional body believed to be an adult female.
Police say the identity of the woman has not been confirmed at this time, and the medical examiner will work to make a positive identification.
Names of the individuals discovered are being withheld until next of kin is notified, police say.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
