Residents in Hominy are under a precautionary boil order after a power outage over the weekend partially shut down the city’s water plant, officials said.

City leaders said the plant’s alarm system failed to detect the issue, prompting the order as a safety measure.

This marks the second water service disruption in Hominy this month. Earlier in May, heavy flooding caused the city’s main water line to collapse, leaving residents without water.

There is currently no estimate on when full service will be restored, and officials said there are no plans at this time to distribute bottled water.
