Tulsa police are investigating an incident involving a 14-year-old driver whose SUV was reportedly shot at before crashing into another vehicle on Saturday afternoon.
Officers say the incident began around 3 p.m. when a vehicle occupied by several teenagers became involved in a confrontation with another group. According to police, the teen driver reported that individuals in the other vehicle displayed gang signs and began shooting.
Investigators say the SUV was being followed by the other group when the 14-year-old driver crashed into an unrelated vehicle near 21st Street and 129th East Avenue. Police say the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with significant injuries.
Following the crash, police say the SUV rolled over, and two passengers reportedly left the scene on foot. Officers located a bullet hole in the SUV, but it is not known whether anyone inside was struck.
The teen driver was cited for driving without a license and other traffic-related violations.
Tulsa police continue to investigate the events that led to the shooting and crash. No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made at this time.
