Sam Landry was nearly untouchable in the circle, tossing a complete game one-hitter to lead No. 2/2 Oklahoma (44-7) past No. 9/10 LSU (41-14), 4-1, in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 8.
Landry didn’t allow a hit beyond the infield and struck out seven, earning her 15th complete game of the season while improving to 19-4 on the year. The junior right-hander allowed just one earned run on four walks and a lone hit, helping OU secure a win in its first-ever SEC Tournament appearance.
The Sooners' offense was powered by Cydney Sanders and Sydney Barker, who combined for all four RBIs. Sanders opened the scoring in the first inning by taking a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, then later delivered a two-run homer in the fifth — her 56th long ball of the season. Barker chipped in with an RBI single in the fourth inning, part of a key insurance rally.
Scoring Summary:
LSU threatened in the sixth by loading the bases, but Landry limited the damage to a single run on a sacrifice fly by Torri Edwards. She then retired the Tigers in order in the seventh to seal the win.
