Sacrifice & service: The Rotary Club of Tulsa highlights dedicated first responders

Two Tulsa first responders get a big recognition at The Tulsa Rotary Club Above and Beyond Awards.

The Rotary Club of Tulsa recognized its Tulsa Police officer and firefighter of the year at a ceremony Wednesday morning at First Methodist Church.

Firefighter Captain Chisom Frazier was awarded for going above and beyond after donating a kidney to a Stillwater firefighter who is also his cousin.

Lieutenant Amber McCarthy, who heads the Tulsa Police Department's Mental Health Unit and also helps officers and veterans with their mental health, was awarded the Officer of the Year award.

News On 6's own Lori Fullbright emceed the awards for the 12th year in a row.

The ceremony recognizes these first responders for their sacrifices and service to the community. Each recipient is nominated by their peers.
