A woman who survived an attack in an Owasso restaurant is back home after nearly nine months in the hospital. Tiffiany Romine was the manager of the Captain D's in Owasso when police say another employee beat her with a baseball bat.

It has been a long journey for her to get to this point.

"Everyone was just in shock," said Christine Nishiguchi, a friend. "We just didn't understand how it can be, someone we knew and loved, and how we could be in that position at that time."

Nishiguchi's brother has been dating Tiffany for years and they have a child together. The attack changed the family's lives forever.

Tiffiany spent months rehabbing in hospitals.

Right after the attack, Romine spent weeks in a Tulsa hospital. She was then sent to rehabilitation centers in Texas, where she has spent the last nine months learning how to walk and talk again.

A portion of her skull had to be replaced and she has had facial reconstruction surgery. Though Tiffiany will never see or hear the same again, her spirit remains in tact.

"She still has her sense of humor," said Nishiguchi. "She remembers most of her life. She doesn't remember the attack, which we're thankful for."

The road to recovery has been inspiring for others.

Nishiguchi says it has been inspiring to watch Tiffany's progress and fight to get better. The journey is not over yet, but Tiffiany is glad to be home.

"My brother said that this is the end of saying goodbye," she said. "He says that saying goodbye is the hardest part for all of them and he says we don't have to say goodbye anymore."

She is scheduled to resume rehabilitation treatments three days a week.

There is an online fundraiser to help the family out.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family pay for reimbursements. They say a lot of travel and meal expenses came out of their own pockets. A link can be found HERE.

The person charged with the assault is going through court proceedings.

Nicholas Palmore is charged with assault. He remains in jail.
