Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is seeking outside counsel to investigate a popular mobile shopping app.

According to Drummond, the Chinese company Temu is unlawfully collecting data and sharing it with the Chinese government.

Security and privacy concerns led Apple and Google to suspend the Temu app from the App Store and Google Play Store.

Drummond says his office is now seeking to hold the app accountable.

“I will not allow Temu or any other company to abuse and exploit Oklahoma consumers,” Drummond said. “My office will hold Temu accountable and work to ensure Oklahomans have a safe online marketplace.”

Drummond says proposals for an investigation and legal action are due Oct. 3. Drummond’s office will evaluate proposals and contract with the most economical and most competent law firm.
