The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says more changes could be coming to security checkpoints, including at airports in Oklahoma.
In July, the agency announced it would no longer require passengers to take their shoes off in the security line.
The TSA says passengers could soon be allowed to travel with higher liquid limits, meaning passengers could take their water bottles through security.
Another possibility could be allowing passengers to leave their laptops in their bags during screening.
Dr. Sheldon Jacobson, a computer science professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, says facial recognition plays a large part.
"Matching up your form of identification with the person you are ... Using facial recognition, biometrics, [and] artificial intelligence, it enables there to be a higher level of security," Jacobson said.
