Students in Sapulpa Public Schools headed back to class today as the district kicks off the new school year with several changes in place.
Parents and students were greeted with construction at the high school, and there are updated drop-off plans and district-wide policy reminders.
One of the district’s largest projects — a new high school — remains under construction after work began in January.
While the building takes shape, students will be parking in temporary gravel lots on the north and south sides of campus. Drop-off and pickup traffic will move to Dewey Avenue, just south of Holmes Park Elementary.
Sapulpa students will follow the “bell-to-bell” cell phone policy already used across Oklahoma. The rule restricts students from using phones during class time, aligning with guidelines adopted in the school districts across the state.
The district said there is no extra funding available to cover free meals for all students. Families are encouraged to complete applications for free or reduced-price lunches.
Online applications are open, and paper forms will be sent home with students this week.
For a list of the bell times for each of the different schools, the application for free or reduced-price lunch, and other back-to-school information, you can visit the district's website.
