Tulsa firefighters say a house fire late Tuesday night started after a tree limb knocked a weatherhead off the roof of a home.

Crews responded to the fire just before midnight near 4th and Yale and found flames coming from the front of the house. Investigators say the damage began with a power surge that smoldered for hours before igniting a fire in the kitchen. That blaze destroyed the kitchen area and left the rest of the home filled with smoke damage.

No one was inside the home at the time, firefighters said.

Crews remained on scene until Public Service Company of Oklahoma cut power to the house.
