Top 10 Oklahoma high school football players: Mustang's Jaden O'Neal lands at No. 4

The 6-foot-3 Florida State commit brings national-caliber talent to Mustang, where he could be the state’s best chance to end the east side’s 30-year dominance in Class 6A-1 football.

Our 4th best player in the state of Oklahoma is Mustang Quarterback Jaden O’Neal.

THE CASE FOR O’NEAL

At 6-foot-3, O’Neal has been one of the most highly recruited signal callers in the country since he was in 8th grade. A Californian until this year, O’Neal is headed to Tallahassee to be a Seminole next season. Considered a 4-star QB by Rivals, received offers from top schools across the country, including Georgia, Auburn, UCLA and Oklahoma.

WHY IS O’NEAL AT MUSTANG?

A coveted star in Los Angeles, O’Neal committed to Oklahoma in the summer of 2024, and moved to Mustang to be closer to his future home. But when Ben Arbuckle was hired as the Sooners new offensive coordinator he had a different plan in mind, pursuing another QB to their 2026 class, Celina, Texas star Bowe Bentley. Seeing the writing on the wall, O’Neal decided to uncommit from OU and head to Florida State.

WHAT COULD O’NEAL’S IMPACT BE THIS SEASON?

Jaden O’Neal is the only quarterback in our Top 10 Countdown. Which means, in our opinion he’s the best QB in the state of Oklahoma this season. If a west-side team is going to end the east-side’s 30-year stranglehold on the state highest class gold ball, Mustang may be their best chance. O’Neal will be surrounded by an explosive supporting cast on offense that includes wide receivers Jaden Johnson and Ryder Murphy. The question will be whether the Broncos’ defense can hold up against the east-side big boys. Mustang plays its traditional season opener, hosting rival Yukon on September 5th.
