Our sixth-best high school football player in the state of Oklahoma is Jenks' star running back KD Jones.
According to the 247 sports composite rankings, KD Jones is the number 29 running back in the nation for the 2026 class. Jones holds almost 25 Division I offers. He is verbally committed to OSU over the likes of OU, Alabama, and Oregon.
"I'll be walking around the streets in Jenks, and people will be like, 'That is KD Jones, the OSU commit.'" Jones added, "That was one of the toughest decisions I have made in my life. One thing I learned, just follow your heart. That's what I felt and that's why I picked OSU"
The decision to verbally commit to the Cowboys was ironic considering Jones' dad Kejuan played for the Sooners from 2002 to 2005. Dad, though, was supportive during the whole recruiting process.
"He gave me the ups and the downs and the pros and the cons. Without him, it would have been a way harder decision."
Before he heads to OSU, Jones has some unfinished business to take care of during his senior year with the Trojans. The star running back has had a great career with Jenks, ranking 11th on the all-time rushing list. But now, he wants to go out in style.
"I want to get a 2,000 yard season because I haven't reached that yet. The Gold Ball is the ultimate goal, so whatever I have to do to get to that."
