Tulsa emergency crews say one person is dead after a drowning incident at Zink Lake on Saturday.

According to Tulsa Fire Department, the victim was reported in the water and located after nearly an hour of searching. Crews pulled the individual from the lake, but authorities say the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details are confirmed.

The Tulsa Great Raft Race has been cancelled out of respect for the family. The organization released the following press release:

"We are heartbroken by the loss of a young life just hours ago on the Arkansas River. Out of respect for the family and the gravity of this moment, we believe that now is not the time to gather in celebration. Our team has decided to cancel tonight’s Raft Race Sails Into the Sunset event.
As an organization rooted in connection to Tulsa’s riverfront, this tragedy touches us deeply. We have always encouraged anyone stepping into any body of water to prioritize safety, including life vests, not out of fear, but out of care. Moments like this are devastating reminders of how precious life is and how important it is to respect the power of water, the unpredictability of outdoor environments, and the responsibility we all share when we step into nature.
We know that many of you were planning to join us tonight to mark the end of our 10-year tradition. That moment will come another time, but for now, we stand with the family, first responders, and our community in mourning."
Our thoughts are with you.
Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and continued care for one another and our river.
With love,
Tulsa’s Great Raft Race Team

River Parks executive director Jeff Edwards released the following statement:

“We are deeply saddened by the recent tragedy at the Tulsa Wave Park and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones affected. This loss is felt across our entire community, and we share in the grief of all those impacted.
River Parks exists to provide safe, accessible outdoor experiences for everyone. While all park related activities carry inherent risks, our park rules and regulations are carefully designed to minimize those risks and protect our visitors. We urge all guests to follow posted guidelines, wear appropriate safety gear, and remain vigilant when engaging with park features.
We remain committed to working with local authorities and safety experts to ensure our facilities continue to meet the highest standards. The Tulsa Wave Park was created to celebrate our river’s energy and beauty, but it must always be approached with caution and respect.
Our thoughts remain with the family during this difficult time.”
