Our seventh-best high school football player in the state of Oklahoma is Fort Gibson offensive lineman Cooper Hackett.
What Makes Cooper Unique?
Standing at 6'7". around 250 pounds with a wing span over 80 inches, Cooper Hackett is considered a top 10 national recruit from the Class of 2027. Hackett had this to say about his recruiting numbers skyrocketing of late.
"One day I looked myself up and saw I had four stars, and now it's five. I'm real grateful, and it is pretty surreal." Obvious I have size and I'm very gifted for that. But, I have great mobility and great hips."
Who's offered?
Ranked the number three offensive tackle in the country from his class, Hackett is up to around 20 Division I offers. Here are just a few: Texas Tech, Ohio State, Florida, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma.
Tigers head coach Ryan Nolan is not surprised.
" You can't coach size or athleticism. But, you pair that with how competitive he is, he just loves ball."
Taking Recruiting Process in Stride
As for making the right decision regarding his future, Hackett is taking the recruiting process in stride. The junior star is in no hurry to make a verbal commitment. However, the right tackle knows exactly what he wants out of a college program.
"I can't wait to be 300 pounds. I am under weight right now, and I'm still dominating. So, once I have all that weight in college, I'm going to dominate. Coach Nolan added, "There aren't too much 6'7" freak athletes like that. If he gets developed, then he has a good chance to succeed."
Expectations for Hackett Moving Forward?
Hackett not only wants to be great in college, but the highly sought-after recruit is determined to put Fort Gibson on the professional football map.
"I know what I am capable of. I want to be great and go to the NFL." His cousin and teammate Stavros Vafeas added, "He will go to the NFL. If he wants too he will, his potential is off the charts."
