Q: What is Common Tart?
A: Common Tart is a pie shop located near 17th and Utica. Alexandra Coppinger and her mom opened the business together in 2020. When they first opened, it was just the two of them, but they have now hired more employees, some of whom are family members.
“My mom and I have always baked together, we have made pies together,” Coppinger said. “That was our favorite thing to go try in other bakeries, and when we would travel together. We would always look for little pie shops or quaint bakeries, and we always knew we wanted to open something, but never really landed on it, and then finally she was like Tulsa needs pie, we need a pie place.”
Q: What’s on the menu?
A: There are almost ten core flavors of pie, like Key Lime and Fudge Brownie, and a rotation of seasonal specials like Banana Pudding.
“We don’t have it all the time,” Coppinger said. “We drop it occasionally. We also have a loyalty program, so we will text out all our customers, we let them know on social media, and that one is a fan favorite.”
Slices cost $7, or a whole pie that feeds six is $42.

Q: What makes the pies special?
A: From the crusts to the whipped cream, everything is made from scratch, by hand.
“We are emptying and filling up our refrigerators and freezers all day long, and we love it, Coppinger said. “It is a long process, and we make each and every one of our crusts by hand, one at a time.”
Q: When is Common Tart open?
A: The pie shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 to 6:00, and closed Sundays and Mondays.
